CACTC Remembers JoAnn Wickman
Matt Whitman, Executive Director of CACTC, issued the following statement following the passing of founding Coalition/Board member JoAnn Wickman:
All of us at the Cortland Area Communities That Care (CACTC) are profoundly saddened by the loss of our esteemed Coalition/Board member and founding pillar, JoAnn Wickman. JoAnn was truly one of a kind, an embodiment of dedication, passion, and unparalleled expertise. Recognized widely within the Cortland community and beyond, she was a pivotal figure in the world of prevention. To many of us at CACTC, JoAnn was more than a colleague; she was a cherished friend, always eager to share her vast knowledge and boundless kindness.
JoAnn's involvement with CACTC since its inception was testament to her commitment to creating impactful change. As a core member of the Coalition and Board of Directors, she played vital roles in various programs and initiatives, steering the coalition towards its goals and vision. Her leadership was instrumental in the coalition's growth, especially during its formative years and its evolution into an independent public health organization.
Throughout her tenure with CACTC, JoAnn was prolific in her contributions, spearheading numerous initiatives and programs. Her work in promoting community wellness, her leadership in arts and literacy programs, and her dedication to combating substance use left lasting impacts on countless lives. Furthermore, her efforts in outreach brought the CACTC's mission to broader audiences, bridging gaps and fostering community cohesion.
JoAnn's legacy within the CACTC and the broader Cortland community is immense. She touched the lives of many, from colleagues to the numerous individuals who benefited from CACTC's initiatives. Today, as we remember JoAnn, our thoughts are with her loving family - her daughters Sarah and Margaret, and her grandchildren Kevin, Joseph, and Lisa.
Her memory will be cherished, her impact undeniable, and her absence deeply felt by all at CACTC and the community at large. She will be profoundly missed.
